बहुत ही साधारण वैज्ञानिक तरीकों को अपनाकर वर्षाजल संचय करने की विधि को रेनवाटर हार्वेस्टिंग या वर्षाजल संचयन कहते हैं। इस पद्धति को अपनाना काफी कम खर्चीला है। वर्षाजल संचयन की तकनीक गाँव के लोगों को भी सिखाया जा सकता है ताकि उन्हें इसे अपनाने में सहूलियत हो।
छतों के सहारे वर्षाजल संचयन (Rooftop rainwater harvesting for non-drinking purposes)
भू-सतह पर टैंक बनाकर छत से बहते हुए वर्षाजल का संचयन किया जा सकता है। इस पानी का इस्तेमाल पीने और खाना बनाने के अलावा सभी घरेलू कार्यों के लिये किया जा सकता है।
वर्षाजल का संचय क्यों? (Why to do rainwater harvesting?)
1. पानी लाने के लिये लम्बी दूरी तय करनी पड़ती है।
2. भूजल स्तर का गिरना
3. पाइप के सहारे पानी की सप्लाई का हमेशा न आना।

वर्षाजल के संचयन के तत्व (Components of rainwater harvesting for non-drinking)
घरों की छतों पर इकट्ठा होने वाले जल को पीवीसी पाइप के माध्यम से सतह पर बने टैंक में जमा किया जाता है। पानी छोटे और बड़े फिल्टर से गुजरते हुए टैंक में जमा होता है।

रख-रखाव के तरीके (Maintenance of rainwater harvesting)
1. छत की सफाई हमेशा करें
2. रेन सेपरेटर का कैप तभी खोलें जब वर्षा बन्द हो जाये। वर्षाजल के बह जाने के बाद उसे बन्द कर दें।
3. फिल्टर को हमेशा साफ रखें।
4. टैंक की सफाई हर छह महीने के अन्तराल पर जरूरी है।
नोट - भारी बारिश के दौरान रेन सेपरेटर को खोल दें ताकि टैंक की स्लैब से पानी ओवरफ्लो न करे।
